The Deutz - Successful trial run

Well it's been a few weeks since we got our fancy new child carrier.  The day I got it, when Kristy got home with Amber, I put her in it inside the apartment for a trial run.  It did not go well, a tantrum resulted in fact.  It didn't reinforce it as a good purchase for me.  I guess it was hard for baby Amber to understand how good of a deal that purchase was, how many future good times it would lead to, and how happy she should have been about it. As you can see, I was much more excited than she was.

I guess I could have been a bit more understanding that she had just put up with being on a crowded skytrain after putting in a hard day at daycare.  Anyways, I'm happy to report that on our first "real" mission she did a lot better.  We just went for a really quick hike, as we're learning not to push it to keep things fun (for all of us).

And this relates back to Vancouver, sure the rain does suck some times, but how amazing is it that we were able to leave our place (which is 30 seconds from rapid-transit, making us only 10 minutes from a major downtown metropolitan hub that supports the type of careers we have) at probably 11:00 AM, go for a real hike in real mountains with real canyons, in a real forest, and then be home by 1:00?  There are so many amazing things about living out here but the cost of living and the rain can at times, dominate one's thoughts.  There are a million reasons people live out here despite the costs and corrupt politics.  This is something I'll address in many future posts.
Amber's first "walk" across the Lynn suspension bridge.  I've never been more cautious on this bridge.  Normally I'm happy to hang out, rock it back and forth, peer over the edge, etc. but having Amber elevated like that made me want to stay right in the middle.

She seemed to love her first hike, of course we brought Road-Bunny #1 just to make sure.

We've got to get better about getting family photos.  Here is proof that Kristy was also with us and also enjoyed herself. Not sure how, but Loca didnt' make it into the photos this time, just her leash.
