Tim and the girls

This photo gives me a new appreciation for professional photographers - especially for those that work with animals and/or babies. I'll admit....I got lucky and this shot only took 4 tries, but I imagine it would take much more if I was striving for perfection.


Here's take 1:

Note that Amber's eyes are closed and Loca is concerned with the toy in the near vicinity.


Take 2:

Amber is mid yawn and Loca is convinced she heard a crow out on the deck.

Amber's hands are in her mouth and Loca has fixated on another toy.


Note what a trooper Tim is as he maintained his smile throughout all 4 takes :) Next step is to get a family photo!

Being this cute has its benefits.....

.....benefit number one being that Mom quickly forgives you for waking up every hour through the night for the majority of this month. Benefit number two is that you can get away with crying through each and every bath (as soon as the water hits your head) and then still manage to get photos this good :)

This month has definitely been difficult to say the least. The only way I can manage a decent amount of sleep (about 3 consecutive hours) is to have Amber in bed with me. Usually I'll try to keep her in her own bed until about 5am.....but after I've seen every hour on the clock leading up to that point I'm ready to give in and take her into bed. I'm not sure whether she's going through a month long growth spurt or whether she just gets a little lonely at night....either way, it amounts to a whole lot of coffee fueled days!

I've heard some people say that "things really start to get better at three months".....I'm thinking Amber maybe didn't get that memo! Either way I still love her to pieces. I'm sure one day....long after this is over....I'll look back at this time and laugh :)

Assistant Mom

It dawned on me today that Loca hasn't been getting much credit (or any credit at all) on our family blog! She has been really great with Amber over the past 3 months and has even earned the title of "assistant mom" around the house. This is because whenever she hears Amber cry after waking up she's the first one into the room to see what's up. She's also right by my side whenever I'm sitting in the rocking chair feeding Amber. The only time she's not checking up on Amber and I is during the late night feeds. I guess she figures I have it all under control and she'll just catch up on her much needed z's!

Amber has just started to recognize Loca over the past few days and even giggles when Loca does some of her tricks. I think Loca has noticed this change of events as well because she seems to be more interested in her as well :) Loca often tries to lick Amber's ears and face during "tummy time" too!

I'm sure the friendship bond will grow stronger once Amber starts walking around with her snack cup.....or starts to realize how fun it is to drop food from her high chair. Loca will be on hoover patrol for sure :)

100th Day Birthday!

Amber is 100 days old today \ (^_^) / Here she is sitting in her bumbo with her new grape hat.

Amber must be going through a growth spurt these days as her sleeping pattern has regressed back to waking up every couple of hours in the night to feed. I knew this day would eventually come, but I'm really looking forward to that light at the end of the tunnel. As sleep deprived as I may be it's hard to stay upset with someone that's just so cute :)

In other news, my Law and Ethics exam is tomorrow morning :S Hopefully I'm ready! It's been a challenge studying for it, but with the help from Nana McCourt I've managed to get a lot of studying in over the past couple of weeks. Amber appreciated being spoiled as well :)
