Sleepless nights
Amber and I are still trying to figure out a nighttime routine. So far it's not going well. Obviously I'm not talking about sleeping through the night at this stage, we're still working on sleeping for more than 20 minutes at a time at night :S She seems to have 'Spidey senses' and knows when we're in the vicinity of the crib....even when she seems to be fully asleep. As soon as any part of her body touches the crib one eye will spring open and she'll give me a look that says "I don't think so mom!" I guess she just loves to snuggle at this stage :)
I've started to get quite a few 'recognition smiles' from Amber lately. It makes all the sleepless nights and crying fits worth it ten times over. Some days she'll stare at me and her eyes will brighten up and she'll give a big smile that lasts for at least a minute or two. I can't help but smile myself when I see her smile - no matter how bad my day or night has been :)
So I guess for now I'll keep trying out different approaches to get Amber into a better sleeping pattern at night - anyone have any tips or tricks I can try? I'm beginning to think I've tried them all!

Have you tried the Happiest Baby on the Block techniques? If not, I own the DVD and would be more than happy to lend it to you - just have to get it back from a friend who is done with it first!
ReplyDeleteSwaddling and white noise were a HUGE help for us. And then around 4 months things got quite a bit better. By 6 months, were doing only one to two wakings for a quick feed. It gets better, I promise!
